Preparing the route and protecting the load
Thresholds, individual steps, vulnerable floors and changes in level can affect a heavy move before the main staircase or loading point is reached. A route plan should show these transitions, the item’s contact points and the surfaces that need protection. Protection and support serve different purposes and both need consideration.
Equipment within this category
Loading ramps and threshold ramps
Planned changes in level with suitable support, gradient and restraint.
Floor-protection boards and sheets
Protection along the agreed working route.
Moving blankets, padding and edge protectors
Protection for vulnerable surfaces, corners and restraint contact points.
Straps and load restraints
Securing the item for agreed handling and transport stages.
Crates, cradles and custom supports
Project-specific protection and support where included in the scope.
Access details that shape the plan
Photograph floor finishes, edges, narrow passages and loading points. Include information supplied by the building about access, lifts and surface protection. For a large stone piece or fragile item, provide the base details and any instructions concerning permitted support and orientation.
Connect the handling stages
Loading or threshold ramps, floor-protection boards, moving blankets, edge protectors, dunnage, restraints and custom cradles can be included where needed. The quote confirms the agreed preparation and materials. Crating, dismantling and disposal should be identified explicitly so they connect with collection and final placement.

These original Sydney case studies show relevant JB handling experience. Your equipment and route are assessed for the actual project.

450 kg Curved Marble Bench Over Stairs
JB relocated a 450 kg curved marble bench through a restricted stair route, with protective wrapping, a ramp and specialist stone-handling equipment.

700kg Marble Sculpture Removal
A replacement lift was smaller than the building’s original lift. JB secured and mechanically tilted a 700 kg marble sculpture to negotiate the restricted opening, with lift technicians attending.

- Item type, known weight and overall dimensions
- Photographs of the base, supports and vulnerable surfaces
- Pickup and delivery addresses, plus the complete access routes
- Preferred timing, loading windows and site contacts
- The final position and any preparation or technical responsibilities
If a weight or dimension is unknown, say so in your enquiry. JB can identify the information needed before confirming the crew, equipment, transport and price.
Request an equipment assessmentEquipment questions
Does floor protection make any route suitable for a heavy item?
No. Protection helps manage surface contact; it does not establish the capacity or suitability of the floor, ramp or staircase. The load and complete route still require assessment.
Can the equipment be included with transport?
Yes. Request a complete move and include both sites. The agreed quote identifies the lifting, loading, transport, unloading and placement stages.
Is this a live equipment stock list?
This guide explains equipment capabilities. The selected equipment, service arrangement and availability are confirmed for your enquiry.
