Heavy items over stairs
A stair move starts with the item and the whole access route. A protected printer, a stone table and a machinery component can have very different dimensions, balance and permitted orientation. Powered equipment must fit the load as well as the staircase. Include the pickup and delivery routes, even if only one address has stairs.
Equipment within this category
Tracked electric stair climbers
Powered tracked movement for suitable secured loads on assessed stair routes.
Hydraulic platform stair climbers
Platform-supported handling with the load position and operating space assessed.
400 kg rated stair-climber category
A rated equipment category within JB’s existing stair-climber range.
800 kg rated stair-climber category
A higher rated category requiring the appropriate load and route review.
Access details that shape the plan
Send photographs from the bottom and top of each flight, plus landing lengths, clear widths, turns and headroom. Show individual steps before and after the staircase, narrow doors and the final room. JB can identify where more measurements or a site inspection are needed before confirming an arrangement.
Connect the handling stages
Choose equipment hire, operator assistance or a complete managed move. Confirm who supplies the supporting crew, prepares the item, protects the property and handles transfers to the truck. A managed scope can connect collection, loading, transport and placement so there is a clear handover at every stage.

These original Sydney case studies show relevant JB handling experience. Your equipment and route are assessed for the actual project.

400kg gelato display fridge
A 400 kg display fridge moved down three flights of stairs, then raised over a bench into a restricted commercial service area. Stair handling and final placement needed separate equipment stages.

250 kg Pizza Oven: Narrow Stair Relocation
Two JB removalists moved a 250 kg pizza oven over very narrow stairs using a stair climber, then positioned it on the concrete slab of an outdoor kitchen.

- Item type, known weight and overall dimensions
- Photographs of the base, supports and vulnerable surfaces
- Pickup and delivery addresses, plus the complete access routes
- Preferred timing, loading windows and site contacts
- The final position and any preparation or technical responsibilities
If a weight or dimension is unknown, say so in your enquiry. JB can identify the information needed before confirming the crew, equipment, transport and price.
Request an equipment assessmentEquipment questions
Does an 800 kg rating confirm that my item can go up any stairs?
No. The load, machine configuration, dimensions, balance, stair geometry and working space all matter. JB confirms suitability for the particular item and route.
Can the equipment be included with transport?
Yes. Request a complete move and include both sites. The agreed quote identifies the lifting, loading, transport, unloading and placement stages.
Is this a live equipment stock list?
This guide explains equipment capabilities. The selected equipment, service arrangement and availability are confirmed for your enquiry.
