THE SHORT ANSWER
Before an oversized-item move in the Gold Coast, record the item’s dimensions and known weight, photograph both access routes, confirm site contacts and timing, and identify any preparation by another provider. Share the information with JB before a method and quote are confirmed. The checklist prepares an enquiry; it is not an instruction to lift the item yourself.

Record item dimensions, weight and condition
List the item type, make, model and quantities. Add dimensions, known weight, construction, condition and photographs. If the weight is unknown, say so and share available specifications rather than presenting a guess as confirmed. For several pieces, label the photos so the team can match each item to its record.
Photograph collection and delivery access
Give pickup and delivery suburbs, the item’s present position and the intended final room or installation area. Show the path to and from the truck. Include steps, slopes, lifts, narrow openings and any surface requiring protection. Explain whether the route uses shared or private property.
Confirm access, preparation and moving responsibilities
Coordinate access with the right people
Nominate the person who can authorise building access and the contact who will meet the crew at each address. Check goods-lift or dock bookings, operating hours and site rules. Confirm who arranges these items and when access will be ready. Do not book another trade around an unconfirmed moving date.
Separate moving work from technical work
Identify electrical, plumbing, gas, IT, anchoring or commissioning requirements. Tell JB whether another provider must disconnect, prepare or recommission the item. Agree the sequence and handover points. Manufacturer-specific preparation or trade work is not automatically included in a removalist’s transport scope.
Oversized item moving-day preparation and handover
Keep the agreed route available
Tell JB about changes after the initial assessment. New furniture, construction, parked vehicles, unavailable lifts or altered working hours can invalidate the assumed route. Keep children, pets and unrelated site activity clear of the agreed work area. Ask the team before moving obstacles that might affect the assessed method.
Confirm the receiving position
Have an authorised contact ready to identify the final position and check the item at handover. Clarify responsibility for reconnecting or commissioning it afterwards. Keep the agreed scope, contact information and correspondence together. A received enquiry is not a booking; confirm the moving date separately with JB.
Your Gold Coast access and handover folder
For a Southport, Surfers Paradise or Broadbeach building, obtain lift dimensions, the loading location and the building contact before confirming the move. Include the booking window in the same thread as your item photos. At Main Beach or another managed property, identify the person who can arrange access at the delivery end rather than relying on the collection contact.
For a Robina, Burleigh Heads or Nerang enquiry, add photographs of outdoor paths and the receiving position where relevant. For business equipment, include an inventory and the operating hours that affect collection. The documented Gold Coast heritage-building boat move shows why handling, floor protection and the receiving space must be planned together; your own item still needs its own assessment.
Choose the guide for your actual address
Start with the local access guide that matches your enquiry, then share photographs and measurements of the property itself. An area guide is preparation help, not confirmation that an item or access route is suitable.
Documented Gold Coast handling experience
JB’s Gold Coast heritage-building project involved a 2.5-tonne boat, four movers, forklift and gantry handling, and floor protection. It is a local boat project, not a claim of a completed furniture job. Read the original scope and photographs alongside the Sydney example below.

This original project demonstrates a handling problem, not a guaranteed method for another item. It was completed in Sydney. Your Gold Coast enquiry is assessed using its own load, route and requirements.
