A heavy boat inside a heritage building

This project involved a 2.5-tonne boat with its motor remaining inside. JB’s four-person crew worked within a heritage building on the Gold Coast, bringing together forklift handling, gantry lifting and floor protection as part of the move.

The photographs show the boat within the building, the equipment alongside and above the hull, and protective sheets across the working area. The enclosed setting made the relationship between the load, handling equipment and surrounding property a central part of the job.

Floor protection along the working route

Floor protection formed part of the handling arrangement inside the heritage building. The supplied photographs show sheets laid through the work area and around the boat, alongside the gantry, supports and other moving equipment.

For another heritage-property enquiry, the moving brief should identify the floor construction, finishes, access route and building requirements. Floor covering is one part of that brief; any structural loading limits or specialist advice must be confirmed for the particular building before a handling plan is agreed.

Forklift and gantry handling with four movers

The forklift and gantry both formed part of the coordinated equipment arrangement. The images show slings, overhead lifting equipment and supports around the hull, with the crew working through the internal handling stages.

A boat’s shape and weight distribution matter alongside its total weight, particularly when a motor remains inside. For a new job, the hull’s construction, lifting information, engine position and existing supports should be supplied for assessment. This project records the equipment used here; it does not prescribe the lifting points or equipment selection for another vessel.

From the internal work area to an exterior position

The photo sequence documents the boat and equipment inside the building, followed by an exterior view of the vessel. The gallery gives prospective clients a practical view of the load, property setting and handling arrangements behind this Gold Coast boat project.

This is a separate project from JB’s earlier 1.8-tonne warehouse boat extraction in Sydney. Both involve large boats, but their weights, settings and project details remain separate in the portfolio.

Planning a boat or heritage-building heavy move?

Send the boat’s weight and dimensions, whether the motor remains inside, the current support arrangement and photos of the full access route. Include the intended final position and any building-management or conservation requirements available.

JB can review the load and site information, identify further assessment needs and discuss the crew, equipment, scope and availability for your project.

Boat heavy lifting: project questions

How heavy was the boat, and was the motor inside?

The confirmed project load was 2.5 tonnes, with the motor inside the boat.

How many movers and what equipment were used?

Four movers worked on the project, using a forklift and gantry. Floor protection was used within the heritage building.

Was this boat project on the Gold Coast?

Yes. This case study records Gold Coast work. The client, exact building and completion date are not specified.

Will the same equipment suit my boat?

That depends on the vessel, supports, lifting information and route. Provide the load and access details so the proposed method can be assessed for your job.
